It is essential that in any health, safety and environment strategy, the organisational culture is considered. Research demonstrates that progress in HSE performance requires not only attention to hardware and systems, but also to the workplace culture.
Culture and attitudes are amenable to change through behaviours. Our senior consultants work with organisations to assess the current HSE culture and how it is reflected in attitudes and behaviours.
Taking account of the existing HSE structures and processes, and using a gap analysis developed as a result of the HSE culture assessment, a culture change model is developed. The model is designed to be integrated with existing processes and to be mutually supportive of them. There are numerous services and tools which can be applied in a customised form. These include leadership training, culture survey tools, behavioural change technologies, performance management techniques and management systems.
The goal is to create a sustainable positive HSE culture which is integrated with all other HSE processes and systems and results in continuous improvement in HSE performance.
